Touching and full of hope

'A Friend' by Uriel Vallin (2025)

short animated film about robots and humans.

Although the role of living being in a film is played by a puppet, we can, without any mistake, recognise ourselves in a wooden doll. The dolls don't have hearts, after all, don't they? A sad but full of hope story that, even if we break ourselves, help will still arrive. Even from the least expected source.

It is easy to see a connection between action on screen and the questions we ask ourselves these very days - what kind of future awaits us? Will it be kind to us? And what if it will not be what we imagine? Who is going to fix it?

It is breathtaking how Uriel Vallin managed to pass this deep, meaningful message to the audience in less than two minutes. And all of this without a single word said.
